Q: What does IC Romance publish?
IC Romance does not itself publish novels or other materials. We work to assist other publishers, who remain anonymous during all or much of the publishing process. IC Romance derives its revenues from these publishers and does not sell books or other materials to readers. The primary function of IC Romance, therefore, is to coordinate and gather the work of ghostwriters to be used in various formats that can deviate from their original forms.
Q: Who is an ideal candidate for the Guided Ghost program?
The ideal candidate writes quickly and well in the romance genre. Previous knowledge of exotic or international settings is a plus. A successful Guided Ghost will not spend any time researching, but instead can quickly write following broad guidelines. Ghostwriting for IC Romance is ideal for inspired people who can easily write one page of original yet well-written text per hour, with minimal effort and minimal guidance. If you are prolific in writing excellent romance, you are ideal for IC Romance.
Q: Does IC Romance accept manuscripts from agents?
No. At this time, IC Romance only accepts submissions from individual writers.
Q: Does IC Romance pay royalties to authors?
No. IC Romance works with writers strictly under the terms of a full-rights manuscript buyout or ghostwriting agreement. We do not offer royalties as compensation, but instead buy all rights to existing manuscripts or collaborate with guided ghostwriters to create original material.
Q: Does IC Romance work with ghostwriters outside the United States?
Yes. Writers from all over the world are encouraged to work as ghostwriters for IC Romance.
Q: What does IC Romance pay?
While payment depends on the genre and/or project, IC Romance pays nominal rates in line with what is typically offered to freelance journalists or writers. This means that you should only consider working on an IC Romance project if you love writing romance and you can write quickly (without need to research the topic given to you). It is ideal for writers in-between projects and those looking for a paid opportunity. For Guided Ghosts, we pay by assignment (e.g. a certain amount for 20 pages of text amounting to 5,000 words or more).
Q: Can IC Romance give me advice on a title?
No. We do not give advice or feedback. We also do not conduct telephone or face-to-face interviews.
